I grew up in Mayaguez PR and attended Southwestern Educational Society, a fully bilingual school. All the subjects are taught in English, including HS electives. I highly recommend it. For more info, access www.sesolions.com. Hope it helps.

I'll second S.M on their post. I also attended Southwestern Educational Society (SESO). It's a good private school with a full english curriculum as well as Spanish as a Second Language courses. If you're looking for a public school, you'll be hard pressed to find anything that is bilingual and if you're moving from somewhere in the 50 states (although I can only really speak for the northeast), you'll be even harder pressed to find something that compares to the public schools you're used to. SESO is a good bet.

I am looking for a top-notch private school in the Caguas,Puerto Rico,area.
I found one school
"Colegio Notre Dame Elemental" (www.ccnde-sec.org)and its High School"Colegio Notre Dame Superior" (www.ccnd.org) I think this school has about 2,300 students and maybe is the largest private school in Puerto Rico. However, I have not been able to get any info on how good, especially what is average SAT for graduating seniors.
( I called school and counselor said principal would not give average SAT grades,which seemed strange to me,because such information is very easy to get for US mainland private schools)
Any info on this school(especially average SAT) or on other excellent private schools in the area would be much appreciated.

hi all, i moved to puerto rico a few years ago. there are MANY bilingual schools and some that teach primarily in english. however, those that advertise online, are in the metro area and are frequented by americans are typically VERY expensive. my recommendation is to ask your neighbors where they send their kids. most will go to a bilingual school that costs a fraction of those in the area known by americans. education is highly valued in PR, so your kids should do very well. i found the local bilingual school was at least one year ahead of american public school. good luck!

I have lived my whole life in PR, and I don't have knowledge of any bilingual public schools. So if you are looking for bilingual public education, most likely there is none, and if there are any, might be only pilot programs.
For those moving to Humacao Puerto Rico, Colegio San Benito as an elementary school is good, but not fully bilingual. Palmas Academy in Palmas del Mar is a fully bilingual school, but let me warn you, tuition is expensive compared to other private schools. As for 7-12 grades, Colegio de San Antonio Abad is a good option. Eventhough their program is not fully bilingual, all textbooks are in english, except for the spanish class. I witnessed a few students who arrived to PR knowing no sapnish at all, and learning some within the 1st year, and their academic achievements being comparable with the rest of the honor roll students.

My family and I have lived here in Loiza for two and a half years. I have children ages 9,8,6,and 5. The school they attend is horrible especially because they speak english. If anyone knows of any school that has a curriculm close to being billingual it would be appreciated. Hopefully we'll be moving to the San Juan area.

My aunt is an English teacher in another private school and receives students from Bayamon Military Academy, American School, among others and says that those from Levittown BAptist Academy are the most prepared in English.

Hi, I'm a student from Minnestoa, and My family and I are moving to Rincon, Puerto Rico, and I was wondering how the schooling is down there for High School students, and what the best school would be to attend on down there. Either public schools, Private schools, or just being Homeschooled? What should I do, the ony langue I realy know how to speak is english, and right now at my school i'm just learning how to speak Spanish on my own. It isn't the greatest but im still getting it done. What would happen down there if i couldn't really speak spanish like everyone else down there? How do the other americans that have moved down there done to speak spanish and to fit in?

Help! My 5 children atten Carib Christian school here in Puerto Rico. My problem began since my husban and I are going threw a terriable devorce and i am unable to continue paying for tutions.the school has been very understanding for the last few months but its gotten to a point where i need to pay in full or they wont be able to attend school now in January. The school refuse to give me there transcript so that i can inroll them in a public school. I am aware that i owe them money and can pay a little at a time. but my children need to contiue there education. Pls. help . thank you.
