MY CULTURAL HERITAGE
♥Geisy Guzman♥ - I am dominican and i was born on novenber 25 in 1991 in "Santiago"Dominican Republic. My parents were both born in Dom.Rep. I grew up in my maternal side, with my mother and my sister. My grandparents both were born in DR too. They used to live in the country side and they worked really hard especially my grandfather to support eight kids, 4 girls and 4 boys. When the kids grew up they moved to a city called "santiago".My mother met my father when she was 20 years old and then at the age of 21 she had me. I never had a normal family life, i didnt grow up wiht my father, there was always my mother, my sister and I. My mother used to work really hard to support me and my sister. Then when I was 11 years old she came to U.S.A for a better life for us and she left me and my sister with our grandparents. That was a hard age for me because I was growing up and by that time I had a lot of questions and i didnt have a mother or a father to answer them for me.I lived with my grandparents for 4 years. I used to live with them in a beautiful house in a small town called "el ingenio". For holydays we always used to have a family reunion with all the family from the oldest to the youngest. We used to cook "asopao" wich is a spanish food, in the street and have so much fun.Every sunday morning we used to go to church together. Now I live here in United States and I left my past behind and most of my culture have change. What my mother,my sister and I have keeped from our culture is the food, music, religion and a lot of beautiful memories that we have saved in our minds and hearts. Now I finally have a normal family my mother, stepfather, sister and brother and I'm loving it. I do miss my culture, hometown and my beautiful family, and i cant wait to see them again. Life is full of changes and we have get use to it. This is my culture.I didnt write about my great grand parents because I didnt really get to know them well but i wrote about what i knew. This is My story and this is my culture now but I know that one day i am going to have my own family and by that time i know my childrens are going to have a different culture.
