Horizon Academy offers a progressive academic curriculum that is individual and competency based. The computer-generated curriculum guides students through each lesson at their own pace, giving them a chance to master concepts before moving on to other lessons. This state of the art software allows teachers to give more one-on-one attention to students in their class. In addition to the computerized curriculum, Horizon Academy also offers elective courses in several subject areas.

I went there for a year during. From 2007 to 2008. It all bullshit. I aint gonna say brain washed but they definitly try to force certain shit upon you. Im back home and have been for over a year now and im still good. So honestly horizon didnt help aty all cuz the frist night i was home i snuck out and went to a party. I didnt graduate. I got pulled cuz i refused to do anything at all. I never made it past level 2. Hahahahahahaha. I still gots my fam. Not my birth fam. They forgot about me when i came home. I got thrown in a shit pile dealt with it and lived there for a while. Now i gots my juggalo out there that are my fam for life. Fuk all haters. ICP up in the world all day motha fuckas. Whoop Whoop. And yes i looked this up just to talk shit, cuz i gots nothign better to do with my life. Hahahahahaha fuk my parents too.

I graduated horizon and wanted to share my take on it. my parents dropped me off not knowing wat they were about to get themselves my whole family and me into. the whole point behind the school and purpose of the school is good I have nothing bad to say about the overall meaning behind it. your a troubles teen and yu get sent away from all your distractions to focus on yourself and your family. the appraoch of it a is what failed and I'm sure continues to fail. I talk to other graduates and non graduates and everyone basically has the same feelings about the school. you go and fake it till you make it and wen you go home go back to what you were doing.. I was there for an un nessary 2 years because I stck through it.. there were many people special cased and administration the staff and directors have their favorites. it was hard to build self esteem and confidence when this was going on.. nevertheless indidnt complain an went on because I truly missed my family I didn't see them untill about 8 months after being there and didn't speak on the phone with them for about 5 months inky to hear them say that they were told by my famiy representative who was basically the middleman that recieved and delivered mail to and from my parents that they had to tell me I was going to stay until i finished. I honestly feel this harmed my relationship with my parents because I wanted to leave there so bad that i lied my way through..I I smiled and pretended to be ok and didn't deal with my real issues infear of the forced peer critisism that was instilled into our heads that we must critize eachother in order to better ourselves.. and students were in charge of other students programs so it became a monarchy worse then high school.. I lied my way through smiling wen i was told cleaning wen i was told eating walking running jumpin talking when I was told.. it messed with my mind and idevelope an eating disorder like many girls there because we were forced to eat big portions.. violation of privacy was an issue we showered with the doors open and we moved to gym showers and only a thin curtain. the staff is not properly trained or acredited.. I remember staff members giving students cigarettes to smoke alcohol to drink and so on.. they were from the nearby towns like pahrump and had absolutely no skill with teens.. there were positives you missed your family so you appreciated them and worked tirelessly to be able to see them. I agree with my friend Lucas Blackburn and that wa not even the half of it.. te school is very expensive and wen families would come and tour the administrator mrs christina would have us lie to te families in order "to be able to afford food for us" I other words she wanted the money. I do miss it sometimes though it was a great escape from reality and wn I came back home I realize I had absolutely no social skills because I was there for 2 year not allowed to know absolutely anything about the outside. I didn't even know obama was runnig for president.. wen I graduated and came home I was ok for a few days but then I realized that I was so behind and so immature with my social skills.. I was quiet and shy and low self esteem. I quickly fell into my old ways and have a shaky rocky unstable relationship with my family no just my parents. I lost confidence in myself because now I feel like a failure.. many people share the same experience as me do your research before deciding to send your child here try therapy it builds confidence and character especially a group therapy with kids Or teens with the same issues.. don't send your teen here I sincerely mean it from the bottom of my heart fro an experienced graduate
