Schol Bombing & Shoot Out

Hello my name is Christy Seiber, I once went to Van Buren County Elem. School back when it was separate from the high school. When I attended, the teachers and staff cared about the students and there well being. Now hearing of such a "threat"(that took place on Monday November 6, 2006)to the children and staff, it makes me wonder why Van Buren County School Systems was not shut down Monday. Do the other staff members not care about our children or even for that matter the lives of themselves? If the teachers and staff knew of such a threat to the school why didn't they close it down or even tell the parents? There response, "We didn't want the parents to worry." So getting a phone call about your child being hurt or killed at school is a safe alternative? I don't think so. I understand that Spencer, TN is a small town and doesn't have a great income. That shouldn't have been the reason that the children were allowed to come to school. Well at least that is my thoughts and the thoughts of many other people. I am currently residing in Anderson County, Tennessee, but all three of my nephews attend Spencer School Systems. This is a act of ignorance on the staff of Spencer Schools that should not and will not be ignored. Just incase Spencer Staff doesn't understand the value of family and loving that family than maybe the school is not there place of employment. I'm sure that most staff have children of their own and wonder how they would feel if it were them in the parents situation right now? I'm sure they wouldn't like it either. I just find that the situation was not handled in the manner that it should have been. Please understand my points of interest here. Thank you. Sincerely, Christy Seiber
