MRSA
I am very concerned about the recent outbreak of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus better known as MRSA in the local schools.
To the best of my knowledge the football field house was cleaned and disinfected due to a student/football player having MRSA. Was the students football gear sent home to be cleaned by the parents? If so, were the parents told the reason why and what precautions to take and to use bleach on this gear? Or were the parents left in the dark and thought this was just a routine cleaning of the gear? Or did the school clean the gear? What about the rest of the school? I feel that the entire school should have been cleaned and disinfected from the bathrooms, to the gym, to each and every chair in the classrooms, handrails ect. I think you get my point.
Were the other football teams that have come to The school since the MRSA appeared been notified and what about any schools that the football player visited?
I, as a parent, am disappointed that each and every parent did not receive a letter notifying us that MRSA Could be in our school. If I was not a close friend of the family involved I would not have found out until a week later on the news. I personally spread the news that it was in the school because the parent of the child I am referring to asked me to let others know.
I have been thinking of contacting you but have not--not until I heard a child died of it in Marshall County on the news tonight. I am sorry that it took that for me to act upon my feelings of concern for my daughter/Son and her/ his fellow classmates.
I have bought my daughter and son hand disinfectant to use at school and she now has some of her friends using hers and they are now buying their own. Why doesn't the school purchase hand disinfectant and have it available for those who can not afford it? Why hasn't there been an assembly to discuss this with the students? The health teacher has not even discussed this with the students in his class. This has been in the news for the last 6 months and I have seen it escalade now to the point that students are dying, but I am sure there are many parents and students that still have no idea about this disease.
The school has the opportunity to inform 160+ families at one time. Why hasn't this been done?
As you can see, I am very concerned about this. And I hope that you are now as concerned.
